Mohibullah Shakir emphasises responsibility for negotiations lies with central govts of both countries. The acting Afghan consul general, Mohibullah Shakir, has clarified that his office does not have the authority to engage in negotiations with Pakistan or any other government.This statement came in response to recent claims from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who expressed a desire for negotiations with Afghan representatives for peace in the country and region in general. During an exclusive conversation with Samaa TV, Shakir emphasized that the responsibility for such negotiations lies with the central governments of both countries. “It is not within our jurisdiction to negotiate, so how will we negotiate?” he questioned. Shakir acknowledged the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan, noting that the two neighbouring countries should maintain good relations. He also recognized Pakistan’s generosity in hosting Afghan refugees for over 40 years.

Shakir also expressed a willingness for cooperation. “We are ready for all kinds of cooperation with Pakistan,” he stated, signaling an openness to continue working together on various fronts, even if formal negotiations are beyond his remit.
