Afghan Consul General in Peshawar Announces Complete Preparations for Refugee Repatriation

Afghan Consul General in Peshawar, Hafiz Mohibullah Shakir, announced that the Afghan government has made complete preparations for the return of Afghan citizens currently residing in Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference, he said camps have been established and transport along with all essential facilities are being provided to ease the process for returning refugees.
He appreciated Pakistan’s hospitality over the past four decades, stating that Afghan citizens gained education, work, and livelihoods in Pakistan, but now it’s time to return and rebuild their homeland.
He emphasized that Afghanistan is now a free and peaceful country with no shortage of land or water, and the government is ready to welcome its people back.
On women’s education, he clarified that Islam promotes learning and that there is no ban on education in Afghanistan. However, the system is being reviewed and separate institutions will be created for women to ensure a safe environment.
Community elders present at the event requested more time from the Pakistani government for a smoother transition, citing long-standing businesses and livelihoods. However, the Consul General did not respond directly to the appeal.
He concluded by stating that Pakistan has always supported Afghan refugees, and now the Afghan government stands with its people.
