A significant development has emerged regarding the petition seeking the suspension of PTI founder Imran Khan’s X (formerly Twitter) account. The Superintendent of Adiala Jail has submitted a comprehensive response to the Islamabad High Court, firmly denying that the account is being operated from within the prison.

According to jail authorities, reports suggesting that Imran Khan’s X account is active from inside the jail are “misleading and baseless.” The superintendent stated that Imran Khan remains under strict surveillance, and the presence of any prohibited items, including mobile phones, is impossible under jail regulations.

The written response submitted to the Islamabad High Court clarified that mobile phones or any similar devices are strictly prohibited under jail rules, and Adiala Jail is equipped with signal jammers that block all cellular signals within and around the facility.

The superintendent further noted that Imran Khan and the staff assigned to him undergo regular searches, ensuring that no banned facility can reach them. The reply also highlighted that under Jail Rule 265, the PTI founder is barred from engaging in political discussions. However, during jail trial meetings, his family members and lawyers at times violate rules by indulging in political conversations.

The jail administration pointed out that in the past, political directives allegedly issued by Imran Khan from prison had contributed to unrest in society. Despite these concerns, the superintendent reaffirmed that the X account is not being operated from inside Adiala Jail.

According to the reply, the account is being managed from outside the prison, as there is no access to mobile phones or internet within the jail. Imran Khan only receives the facilities explicitly permitted under jail rules or court directives.
