Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail and its surrounding localities have officially been declared a Red Zone to ensure maximum security for more than 7,500 inmates, officials confirmed on Monday. The decision aims to eliminate any potential threat and to reinforce the jail’s outer and inner perimeters.

According to security sources, the final demarcation of the Red Zone boundaries around Adiala Jail will be completed today. Once finalized, a large number of highly trained personnel from various law-enforcement and security agencies will be deployed at all internal points and entry routes leading to the jail.

Authorities say that extraordinary vigilance is being exercised due to the sensitivity of the facility, which houses several high-profile prisoners. Additional surveillance systems, checkpoints and rapid-response units are also being positioned in the area.

The development comes a day after federal ministers Azam Nazeer Tarar and Atta Tarar issued a strong warning during a press conference, stating that:

“If anyone even thinks of attempting a jail attack, the state’s response will be swift and decisive.”

Officials reaffirm that the security arrangements are part of a broader strategy to prevent any incident that could endanger inmates or disturb law and order in the region.
