Bollywood fans are abuzz with speculation that Aamir Khan might be working on a sequel to his critically acclaimed 2016 film Dangal. The excitement comes after Khan recently made headlines for a video call with Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was recently in the news for her performance at the Paris Olympics.

Aamir Khan, who starred in the original Dangal as Mahavir Singh Phogat, the father and coach of Geeta and Babita Phogat, called Vinesh Phogat to congratulate her on her remarkable journey in wrestling. Phogat, the first Indian female wrestler to reach the finals at the Paris Olympics, had to retire from the sport last month after being disqualified for being 100 grams overweight before the final bout.

Photos from the video call, showing Khan and Phogat smiling and conversing, quickly went viral, leading fans and social media users to speculate about the possibility of a sequel. Comments on social media have been rife with excitement, with some users claiming, “Dangal 2 is on its way!” and others expressing anticipation about a new film project involving Khan and Phogat.

The original Dangal was a major success both commercially and critically, praised for its authentic portrayal of the Phogat sisters’ rise in wrestling and Khan’s powerful performance. The film’s success and Khan’s continued involvement in sports stories have fueled the rumors that a sequel focusing on Vinesh Phogat’s story might be in the works.

Phogat, a bronze medallist with three Commonwealth Games gold medals to her name, has announced her retirement from competitive wrestling. Her recent disqualification has only added to the intrigue surrounding a potential film project that could further explore her inspirational journey.
