Amarnath Yatra Crosses 3 Lakh Pilgrims Mark Amidst Spiritual Fervor
The annual Amarnath Yatra has surpassed the 3 lakh pilgrims mark as devotees from across India continue to embark on the arduous journey to the revered cave shrine in South Kashmir. On Sunday alone, 14,974 pilgrims participated in the yatra, contributing to a cumulative total of 3,09,957 pilgrims since the pilgrimage began.
Officials overseeing the yatra reported that among the pilgrims were 9,755 males, 3,291 females, 245 Sadhus, and one Sadhvi. In addition to these numbers, over 1,500 security personnel and 159 children also undertook the spiritual pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter high cave shrine.
The Amarnath Yatra is renowned for its significance in Hinduism, particularly for the naturally formed ice lingam that symbolizes Lord Shiva, attracting devotees who brave challenging terrain and weather conditions to pay homage.
“The number of pilgrims this year reflects the enduring faith and devotion of people towards Lord Shiva,” remarked a yatra official, highlighting the spiritual significance and cultural importance attached to the pilgrimage.
