Emanuel Sarfraz, A Journalism Icon Passes Away

Emanuel Sarfraz, a senior journalist and General Secretary of the YMCA Pakistan, passed away due to cardiac arrest in the early hours of Monday. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. The family will announce the funeral details soon.

Emanuel had an illustrious career spanning over three decades. He served as the Editor Coordination of The Nation, the Magazine Editor of The Nation, and as a correspondent for Gulf News in Pakistan. He was also the founding editor of Academia Magazine.

He was a life member of the Lahore Press Club and served as a governing body member. The Lahore Press Club expressed their condolences in a press release, highlighting his contributions to journalism.

Emanuel Sarfraz was a recipient of the South Asia Journalism Fellowship (SAJP) and had the distinction of covering the 2018 U.S. Presidential Elections. His colleagues and friends from The Nation, Daily Times, and other media outlets mourn his untimely demise and remember him as a dedicated professional and a mentor to many.
