Maryam Nawaz Launches ‘School Nutrition’ Programme, Pledges Free Milk for Children

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formally inaugurated the ‘School Nutrition’ programme at a ceremony in D.G. Khan. In her address, she emphasized her commitment to improving children’s health and educational facilities.

Under this programme, free milk will be provided to students up to the 5th grade, starting in D.G. Khan and Muzaffargarh. Maryam Nawaz stressed that her vision includes providing the best teachers, infrastructure, and environment without straining resources. She praised the Ministry of Education and its minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, for their tireless efforts to serve the public and utilize resources with honesty. Maryam Nawaz also took the opportunity to criticize her political opponents for their negative remarks, assuring the public that their tax money was being used responsibly. “Allah doesn’t accept dishonesty, and I ensure your taxes are spent wisely,” she said.

Additionally, she announced plans to enhance teacher training, outsource schools, and promote sports activities. She tasked the education minister with ensuring the success of this programme over the next five years and encouraged other provinces to follow Punjab’s lead.

In a broader economic context, Maryam Nawaz claimed that Punjab is the only province that has successfully reduced inflation, particularly in essential goods like flour, vegetables, and roti. According to her, for the first time in seven years, inflation had fallen to a single-digit percentage, as it did during Nawaz Sharif’s previous tenure.
