5-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Assaulted at Ganga Ram Hospital, Staff Demand Security
A horrifying incident at Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore has shocked the city, where a five-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by a sanitary worker. The incident occurred on the seventh floor of the hospital’s Mother and Child Center, prompting widespread protests and demands for justice.
The girl’s mother, in distress, claimed that the hospital administration attempted to suppress the matter. Her outcry led to the immediate arrest of the 22-year-old suspect by the hospital’s security guards, who handed him over to the Mozang police.
Despite the family’s serious allegations, initial police investigations have not found conclusive evidence of sexual assault. However, a case has been registered against the suspect under harassment provisions. The police are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the hospital as part of their ongoing investigation.
The incident has led to a wave of protests by lady doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff outside Ganga Ram Hospital. The demonstrators, deeply concerned for the safety of female patients and staff, demanded stricter security measures within the hospital premises. The protests escalated to the point of blocking traffic, which was only reopened after the demonstration ended.
The Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, responded to the protests by convening a meeting to address the concerns of the students and staff. He assured them that their demands for enhanced security would be taken seriously and that further discussions would take place to ensure the safety of everyone on campus.
