2289 Police Officers Martyred in KP’s War on Terror; 66 Lost in Just 7 Months

In a grim reminder of the ongoing war on terror, 2,289 police personnel have been martyred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over the years, with 66 officers killed and 90 injured in just the first seven months of 2025.

According to data from the Central Police Office Peshawar, KP has witnessed 476 terrorist incidents in 2025 so far. These attacks also claimed the lives of 121 civilians, left 301 injured, and resulted in the martyrdom of 48 FC personnel (with 109 injured) and 55 other security forces members (with 112 injured).

District-wise Breakdown:

  • North Waziristan: 77 incidents

  • Bannu: 74 incidents

  • Lakki Marwat: 48 incidents

  • D.I. Khan: 44 incidents

Bannu remains the most affected area for police fatalities, with 15 officers martyred and 16 wounded. Lakki Marwat reported 9 police fatalities, while South Waziristan and Peshawar reported 6 each.

Inspector General Zulfiqar Hamid said that police posts and stations are being fortified and the force has been equipped with modern weaponry in the southern belt to counter rising threats.
