21,000 Children Disabled in Gaza War, Reveals UN Committee Report

A UN committee has issued a shocking report revealing that Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza has left over 21,000 children permanently disabled. Since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, nearly 40,500 children have been injured, more than half of them now living with lifelong disabilities.

The report highlights that evacuation orders issued by Israeli forces were not accessible for the blind and deaf, leaving many unable to reach safe zones. In one tragic case, a deaf mother in Rafah was killed along with her children because she could not hear or understand the evacuation instructions.

Restrictions on humanitarian aid have disproportionately impacted disabled individuals, with 83% having lost essential mobility devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and prosthetics. Israeli authorities classify these as “dual-use items,” preventing their entry into Gaza.

The UN committee has urgently called for large-scale humanitarian assistance, particularly for disabled children and individuals, warning that without immediate intervention, their survival and dignity remain at grave risk.
