1200 Trucks Stuck at Pakistan-Iran Border, Ministry of Commerce to Present New Summary

1200 trucks coming from Iran are stuck at the Pakistan-Iran border, causing significant losses for traders on both sides. The Ministry of Commerce has decided to present a new summary to the Federal Cabinet, proposing the removal of the ‘import form’ requirement for imports from Iran and Afghanistan and reviewing the current barter trade policy.
This development occurred during the first joint meeting of the Senate’s Standing Committees on Commerce and Finance, aimed at resolving the growing issues related to barter trade with Iran. Senator Saleem Mandviwala, the Chairman of the Committee, instructed the Ministry of Commerce to consider Iranian imports under the same status as the Import Policy Order. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) revealed that they were unaware of the issue concerning the 1200 Iranian trucks, while the Ministry of Commerce assured that steps would be taken to resolve the matter.
The Iranian delegation disclosed that the number of trucks stuck at the border was double the previously mentioned figure, further exacerbating the crisis. The committee called the current barter trade policy complicated and ineffective, demanding a new policy report within 10 days.
