Punjab Schools Set to Reopen as Smog Situation Improves
The Punjab government has announced the reopening of educational institutions across the province, excluding Lahore and Multan divisions, as smog levels have significantly decreased. Schools will reopen from tomorrow (Tuesday), following a directive from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated, “The situation of smog has improved over the last few days, enabling us to take this decision in consultation with health and education authorities.”
While emphasizing the importance of children’s education, she noted that the government could not compromise on health, which necessitated earlier school closures.
A notification issued by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) outlined new school timings, with classes starting at 8:45 AM. Outdoor activities remain banned, and all students, teachers, and staff are required to wear masks on campus.
