Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Launches Pakistan’s First Eco-Friendly Hybrid Double-Decker Buses for Tourism
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched Pakistan’s first fleet of eco-friendly hybrid double-decker buses, marking a milestone in the country’s tourism sector. In a ceremony attended by notable figures including Senator Pervez Rasheed and Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, the inauguration introduced five buses for promoting eco-friendly metropolitan tourism.
Of the five buses, three will operate on newly designated routes in Lahore, while one bus each is set to launch in Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi. Plans are also underway to extend this hybrid bus service to Multan and Faisalabad in the coming months, enhancing sustainable tourism across Punjab.
During the inauguration, CM Maryam Nawaz examined the buses, took a ride, and emphasized the importance of promoting eco-friendly transportation for tourism. She underscored the commitment to introducing innovative transportation options that protect the environment while offering a unique travel experience to both locals and tourists.
This eco-friendly initiative builds on the double-decker bus service initially launched in Lahore in 2015 under the former CM Shehbaz Sharif’s government. These buses have historically catered to diplomats, corporate groups, and tourists, offering them an enjoyable way to explore the city’s landmarks.
