Potential Safe Havens in Pakistan Amid Growing Nuclear Threats: Myth or Reality?
Amid rising global tensions and fears of nuclear conflict, experts are analyzing potential safe zones in Pakistan that may be less affected by nuclear fallout.
According to analysts, Pakistan’s northern regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, and remote areas of Swat, could serve as potential safe havens in case of a nuclear attack. These mountainous regions are far from major cities and are naturally shielded, which could help mitigate the impact of nuclear explosions.
Similarly, the deserted and mountainous regions of Balochistan, such as Kharan, Koh-e-Suleiman, and Chagai, may offer refuge due to their low population density and presence of natural caves that can serve as shelters.
High-altitude areas in Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Astore, and Deosai, are also considered safer due to the tendency of nuclear radiation to spread more in flatlands rather than in high-altitude terrains.
Meanwhile, desert regions such as Thar and Cholistan may escape direct nuclear impact, but the lack of water and food resources poses a significant challenge for survival.
Experts suggest that if global tensions continue to rise, Pakistan may need to consider the establishment of underground bunkers and emergency shelters for nuclear preparedness.
