Kashmiris Defy Indian Restrictions to Celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day, Raise Pakistani Flags

Despite the heavy restrictions imposed by Indian authorities, Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir marked Pakistan’s Independence Day with zeal, demonstrating their enduring connection to Pakistan and their unwavering demand for freedom.

According to Kashmir Media Service, pro-freedom youth boldly hoisted Pakistani flags in various parts of the Kashmir valley and the Jammu region, including districts such as Jammu, Rajouri, Doda, and Islamabad. These actions, coupled with the burning of Indian flags, served as a powerful protest against New Delhi’s illegal occupation of the region.

In Islamabad, Tehreek-e-Khawateen Kashmir leader Ms. Hafza Bano organized a function to honor the occasion, where she congratulated the people of Pakistan for their ongoing support of the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination. She, along with other speakers, offered prayers for Pakistan’s peace, stability, and prosperity, underscoring the belief that a strong Pakistan is vital to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Other Hurriyat leaders and parties joined in the celebrations in Srinagar, asserting that Indian oppression has failed to dampen the spirit of the Kashmiri people. They reiterated their support for the All Parties Hurriyat Conference’s (APHC) call to observe India’s Independence Day as a Black Day, encouraging the hoisting of black flags across the occupied territory.

These acts of defiance reflect the deep-seated gratitude of Kashmiris towards Pakistan for its moral, political, and diplomatic backing of their just freedom struggle since 1947. As the Kashmiri people continue their resistance against Indian rule, they look to Pakistan for continued support on the international stage.
