Kashmiri Journalist Questions How Pahalgam Attack Was Possible Despite Massive Army Deployment
A prominent Kashmiri journalist has publicly raised critical questions following the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, challenging the effectiveness and priorities of Indian security forces in the region.
“How does such an attack take place in a region saturated with 700,000 to 1.2 million Indian troops?” the journalist asked in a widely circulated statement. He emphasized the contradiction between the intense surveillance ordinary Kashmiris face and the apparent ease with which militants executed the attack.
“How did the attackers arrive, cross multiple checkpoints, and escape undetected? Were these movements possible without internal facilitation?” he continued.
These pointed questions have ignited a broader debate, both online and within the region, about whether the Indian military’s focus is misdirected — targeting civilians more than actual threats.
The comments also revived discussions around past incidents that some locals suspect to be false flag operations, aimed at discrediting the Kashmiri resistance or justifying further militarization.
The journalist’s inquiries reflect growing public frustration and suspicion regarding India’s military conduct in the disputed territory, as Kashmir remains a hotspot of conflict and tension.
