In a significant step to reinforce border security, the Pakistani government has mandated the installation of biometric machines at all airports nationwide, making biometric verification compulsory for all international travelers. The Interior Ministry announced this new measure, which aims to prevent wanted suspects and high-risk individuals from traveling in or out of the country.

The biometric technology will be deployed at international immigration counters where passengers will undergo verification before boarding. This move aligns Pakistan’s security framework with international standards and is part of a broader initiative to modernize border controls and enhance traveler safety.

Ministry officials emphasized that the biometric system would be crucial in the effective screening and tracking of passengers, allowing authorities to identify individuals with prior records or under investigation. The Interior Ministry has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to expedite the implementation process to have the system operational as soon as possible.

This initiative is expected to be a “game changer” in Pakistan’s approach to border security, improving both the efficiency and reliability of passenger screening procedures. As part of an ongoing commitment to national safety, these new protocols reflect a proactive stance in tackling potential threats.
