As the September 30 deadline for income tax returns approaches, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has urged citizens to avoid the last-minute rush and submit their taxes promptly. Spokesperson Bakhtiar Muhammad emphasized that no extensions will be granted this year, highlighting the critical need for timely tax compliance.

In a recent interview, Bakhtiar stated, “Submitting taxes on time is essential for boosting Pakistan’s economy. By promoting a culture of tax compliance, we aim to enhance the country’s economic stability and growth.” He reassured taxpayers that the FBR is committed to improving the capabilities of the tax system through modern techniques.

The FBR is actively leveraging data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to combat tax evasion, improve tax infrastructure, and enhance audit and verification processes. Bakhtiar also mentioned the introduction of the Iris portal, a user-friendly system designed to simplify tax filing for citizens.

Furthermore, the FBR is focusing on building a motivated and professional workforce through training programs, fostering a culture of integrity and employee satisfaction. As the deadline nears, the FBR encourages all taxpayers to fulfill their responsibilities promptly.
