The controversy stems from Musk’s posts on his social media platform, X, regarding the violent anti-immigration riots that occurred in Britain last month.

In response to the BBC’s report, Musk took to X to express his discontent, stating, “I don’t think anyone should go to the UK when they’re releasing convicted pedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts.” His comments come in light of the UK government’s recent decision to release over 1,700 prisoners in an attempt to alleviate overcrowding in prisons in England and Wales, although those convicted of sex offenses were excluded from this initiative.

Musk’s earlier remarks, including a claim that civil war was “inevitable” in the UK, drew considerable backlash and criticism from various sectors, particularly as the country experienced a wave of far-right riots targeting hotels housing asylum seekers and mosques.

The UK’s Department for Business and Trade and the Treasury have yet to respond to Musk’s accusations or the BBC report regarding his exclusion from the summit.
