Brothers’ Disputes Over Electricity Bills Turn Deadly in Gujranwala and Faisalabad

In a tragic turn of events, a man killed his younger brother over an inflated electricity bill in Gujranwala, Punjab. The incident occurred in a house on Prince Road in Gujranwala city.

According to police reports, the brothers, identified as Murtaza and Umar Farooq, engaged in a heated argument over the exorbitant electricity bill. The confrontation escalated quickly, leading Murtaza to use a sharp instrument to cut Umar’s throat, resulting in his immediate death. The police have registered a case against the suspect and are actively conducting raids to apprehend him.

This shocking incident highlights the severe tensions that can arise from financial disputes within families. The police are urging residents to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts and to avoid letting disputes escalate into violence.

In a separate but similar incident in Faisalabad, another man was stabbed to death by his younger brother over an ‘exorbitant electricity bill’. The altercation took place within the jurisdiction of the Balochni police station, involving brothers Ghulam Fareed and Muhammad Qais. The argument over who would pay the electricity bill turned violent, resulting in the tragic death of Ghulam Fareed.
