Alice Walton, Walmart Heiress, Joins Forbes Billionaire List 2025 with $102 Billion Net Worth
In a remarkable turn of events, Alice Walton, the 75-year-old heiress to the Walmart empire, has joined the 2025 Forbes Billionaire List with a staggering net worth of $102 billion. This places her ahead of France’s Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, who had previously held the title of the world’s richest woman.
Alice Walton was born on October 7, 1949, in Newport, Arkansas, to Walmart founders Sam Walton and Helen Walton. With a degree in Economics from Trinity University in Texas, Alice started her career in the investment world before becoming a prominent figure in business and philanthropy.
Walton’s journey to success has been defined by her business ventures outside of Walmart. After working as an equity analyst and money manager, she founded the investment bank Llama Company in 1988. Although the company was closed after a decade, her role as an investor in various projects has defined her wealth.
In addition to her financial ventures, Walton has been heavily involved in community development. She played a crucial role in the expansion of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, contributing personally with $15 million and helping raise $79.5 million through bond issues. As a result, the airport’s main terminal was named the “Alice L. Walton Terminal Building” in her honor.
Despite her deep ties to Walmart, Walton focused on her own business endeavors rather than directly working for the family’s retail giant. She has consistently used her wealth and influence to support both the arts and the community, securing her place as one of the wealthiest and most influential women globally.
